ROOTED IN CHRIST
Session Three Audio Teaching
Ephesians 1:7-14
Redeemed
Session Summary
In this session, we transitioned from adoption to explore another vital aspect of our salvation: redemption. Redemption means release by payment, and Paul reminds us in Ephesians 1:7–10 that this release is secured through the blood of Christ. We began with a story of a father who sacrificed his life to save his son, pointing us to the far greater sacrifice of our Heavenly Father in giving His Son for us. We saw that redemption was necessary because our sin left us guilty before God, under His wrath, and powerless to rescue ourselves. Only God Himself could pay the debt we owed, and He did so in Christ. Redemption carries past, present, and future dimensions: we have been freed from the guilt of sin, we will one day be freed from the effects of the fall, and even now we are freed from our futile ways to walk in newness of life. Ultimately, our redemption exists to the praise of God’s glory, as His grace and power on display lead us to erupt in worship and live as His redeemed people.
In short: “Redemption means we are set free by Christ’s blood, both now and forever, to live for God’s glory.”
