God Delights in Doing What You Least Expect
August 8, 2016
Sometimes I just can’t get over God’s ways. Like the way he pushed the early believers out of Jerusalem and into the world to spread the Gospel through persecution of all things.
And then, He dramatically saved the primary persecutor and made Paul one of the foremost missionaries of the very mission he had previously tried to squelch. “Chief killer of Christianity becomes chief maker of Christians.”
No one saw that one coming.
And so it is in our own lives. He is still the God of unexpected plot twists.
That major disappointment you’re dealing with – He may very well make it a step stool to your greatest and most beloved moment.
That relationship that feels like a thorn in your side – He might turn it into a perfect surprise. A redemption story of the sweetest kind.
That impossible situation in front of you – it might be His way of offering you the wonder of seeing a miracle unfold before your very eyes.
That dream that seems to be going no where – that desire of your heart that appears impossibly dead and never to be realized? Maybe He’s waiting for the opportune moment to prove that He alone resurrects the dead to life.
With divine power, God makes possible that which seems so not.
He will always be the author of your greatest surprises, of the world’s most unexpected delights.
The day they hung Jesus on the cross is perfect proof. It was over, they thought. Dead. Done. Gone. But it was against that very unexpected backdrop of despair that God did His most marvelous and brilliant work. BELOVED, COME FORTH.
And out walked Jesus with a victory so sweet and sure, eternity is still applauding.
I bet no one saw that one coming.
I got SO many chill bumps reading this!!!!!
